So...in case you weren't aware, Justin and I are movie fiends. I mean, I would have to say we watch at least 5-10 movies a week...
Ok, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, it's probably more like 1-3. And, I guess my sister Kellie is part of our club too, because I think she actually watches more movies in a week than Justin and I put together- thanks to Netflix streaming movies and an awesome work environment!
Anyway...thought I'd review the last few movies we've seen, you know, just so YOU know!
Fast Five- Ok, give me a break here friends, but I just LOVE the Fast & Furious franchise! I'm not sure if it's because I'm a fanatic of awesomely hot cars (I'm a weird girl I know), or that it features some of the most beautiful men in Hollywood- Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. Either way, it's an "eye candy" movie for women and men. Oh, and even though they are sort of the "bad guys" you like them cause they're still sort of "good" too. And, maybe it's partly because when I was a kid I really wished that I could be a race car driver, (like in the Indy 500, not Nascar) and the driving stunts are seriously wicked and I wish I could drive like them in real life! Oh, but I think it all started from a little video game called Pole Position. Atari anyone?
Jane Eyre- Humm, I'm not even sure where to start with this one. The actors were strangely unattractive to me at first, but as the movie progressed they became strangely, interesting and lovely. HOWEVER, the latest version of this classic story was also SO depressing that I could hardly wait till it was over! I'm a total sucker for nearly all romanticized, sentimental, or otherwise mushy love stories, which this movie is...but it was also so overly drawn out, that at times the pace of the movie seemed slower than maple syrup during Winter in Canada! It was so emotionally draining on me! I admit I have not seen any other versions, and I hear that there's an older adaptation that is much better, more Pride & Prejudice-like, so I might be willing to give it one more chance. But, my rating for this version right now is 2 stars unfortunately, and unless you are already depressed, or you feel like crying, or you want to see other people suffering and experiencing deep pain and heartache, I would pass on this one.
Thor- I guess I'm a little bit of a geek, in that I do enjoy me some DC and Marvel comic movies every now and then! (Oh and sci-fi, and fantasy- i.e. Star Trek and Lord of the Rings) But, I was still pleasantly surprised when this movie turned out to be as good as it was! It was creative, clever, fun and amusing. Plus, the lead, Chris Hemsworth, kind of looks like Brad Pitt! And I just figured out why he looked so familiar to me, because he was James T. Kirk in the latest Star Trek! You know, Captain Kirk the 1st. Oh, and lastly I rate Thor as 3 stars- definitely worth your time.
Let me know what movies you've seen lately or what you recommend. Thanks!
